What our brain perceives as “cold” is related to how quickly we lose heat from our body.
Metal is a good conductor. So, when we touch metal, our body loses heat quickly. But wood is a good insulator. This means it conducts heat not very well. So, heat is transferred more slowly. And thus, the wood feels warmer.
